Disguised notifications

Disguised notifications change how ShadowNumber's notifications look for a caller: a neutral text instead of a call screen, a number or a name.

Step by step

  1. For one caller: in Contacts, open the contact and tap Notification when they call.
  2. For everyone else on a line: on Lines, tap the line, then Alerts and sound and Notifications for other callers.
  3. Under Disguised as, choose a text – such as 'App update available' – or Your own text, and check the preview.
  4. On Android, pick the Colour. Then tap Save.
  5. When that number calls, tap the notification: the app opens on the call, and you answer there.

Good to know

  • A contact set to Normal is never disguised, whatever the line says.
  • Calls that ring on your SIM use your phone's own call screen. The disguise covers calls over Wi‑Fi and mobile data, and text messages.
  • The colour works on Android only. iPhone doesn't let apps change a notification's colour.
  • The notification still carries the app's name and its current icon. Inside the app, your calls and messages show who it was.

Real calls. Real SMS.

Cellular calls

Calls to the number ring on your phone's regular line in cellular quality, and outgoing calls go out through your phone's own dialer. You don't need internet to talk, and any phone can call the number.

SMS

Real text messages: any phone can text the number, and you can text any phone in Israel from it. Not an in-app chat.

Calling over Wi‑Fi is just an option, for when you have no reception.
